Gourmet Chef turned Wildlife photographer

I'm James Temple, Wildlife & Adventure photographer from England, photographing worldwide

I've been a professional chef far longer than I've been a photographer - in fact, for over a decade. My career started when I was very young in Shorham-by-Sea, where I worked as a pastry chef. Over the years, I worked in various kitchens in England, to luxury chalets, private households, and eventually on superyachts.
I met my lovely long-time girlfriend and travel photographer, Alex, on my first yacht job and we've been together ever since. As we traveled regularly, I eventually got into drone videography and was busy capturing the landscapes we were sailing in and wildlife whenever we could while she took photos.
It wasn't until spending time in the Pacific Northwest and Yellowstone National Park that I bought my first DSLR - and this opened up a whole new world for me. As an Englishman, I hadn't seen this kind of wildlife, so spending the last few years in America has been very exciting for me. In no time I found I was obsessed with finding any kind of bird or bear around to photograph, regularly spending every spare hour (but more typically hours) sitting in one spot to capture the perfect shot.
While I work as a yacht chef, my camera is always handy. Recently, my SpaceX Starship 7 explosion images went viral, marking a new chapter in my photography journey, blending my love for the natural world and the experiences encountered in my nomadic lifestyle.
Alex and I continue to share our creative experiences, and I’m excited to see where my photography takes me next. I can't wait to see you there!
